Diagnostic Tools

For us to help you, we need to get to know and understand more about you. Using the tools listed below we can successfully help you achieve your goals.

Body Composition Analysis
Our state of the art measuring equipment allows us to determine the current, overall physical state of the body. The (Bio-Impedance Analysis) monitor assesses the total percentage of an individual’s body tissue such as muscle, fat, fluid and bone. This enables an objective analysis on the health of the body in relation to its composition.

Measuring Body Fat Is Important for Determining Fitness. Weight alone is not a clear indicator of good health because it does not distinguish between kilograms that come from body fat and those that come from lean body mass or muscle. Carrying too much fat is a condition called obesity, and puts a person at risk for many serious medical conditions including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and even certain forms of cancer. In fact, obesity contributes to at least half the chronic diseases in western society. Obesity means an excess of body fat regardless of weight.

Comprehensive Health Assessment
Designed to help us get down to the nuts and bolts of your health issues.

Heavy Metal Testing
It may sound strange but heavy metal toxicity can cause widely varying symptoms for those people suffering from heavy metal poisoning.

Hormonal Testing
Perhaps you’re feeling fatigued or moody due to a hormonal imbalance? Our hormone test will get to the real reason. We can perform a salivary hormone test to assess the levels of oestrogen (E1, E2 & E3), progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, DHEA and melatonin. Variations in these hormones play a large role in the changes seen in life cycle events such as pregnancy, menopause and aging. Saliva tests have an advantage over blood tests as saliva reflects the free, bio-available hormone levels (unlike blood which measures total levels).

Thyroid Hormone Profile
When most people have their thyroid function tested, only part of the activity of the gland is assessed. Hormones that are relevant to how the thyroid gland is functioning are numerous and only when they are all assessed can an accurate picture of thyroid function be determined. Symptoms of an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) include dry skin, lethargy, constipation, weight gain, heavy and irregular periods and depression. Symptoms of an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) include fast metabolic rate, nervousness, palpitations, weight loss and frequent bowel motions.

Osteoporosis Risk Assessment
Osteoporosis affects over 75 million people worldwide. 1 out of every 2 women are at risk of developing bone fractures. Unfortunately the disease is often not detected until it is well advanced. Early detection of osteoporosis can facilitate successful treatment and reduce the risk of further development of the disease.

Iridology
The scientific study of a person’s health using the iris.

Urine Indican Test
A test which uses a urine sample to detect the presence of indol. This procedure can be helpful in diagnosing inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease or gastric ulcers.

Zinc Tally and other Vitamins, Minerals and Antioxidants
A zinc tally test is a simple assessment designed to measure the amount of zinc in your body. Numerous other nutrient levels can also be assessed at Nu-Leaf.

Candia 5
This test provides laboratory accuracy for the detection of Candida albicans infections within 10 minutes. Candida can cause a variety of symptoms including

  • Bloating
  • Constipation or diarrhoea
  • Food allergies
  • Migraines
  • Depression and lack of concentration
  • Thrush oral or vaginal
  • Fungal infections - ‘athlete’s foot‘, tinea
  • PMS
  • Weight gain
  • Joint pain
  • Cystitis
  • Sinusitis and hay fever
  • Chronic fatigue and generally feeling unwell
  • Infertility
  • Eczema, acne, alopecia

Biocard Celiac Test
This test is based on new discoveries by leading scientists. It is an accurate, easy to use test that can diagnose celiac disease with 96.3% accuracy. Symptoms of celiac disease include abdominal pain, bloating, constipation or diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.

Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis
This is a functional test that provides and overview of the components of digestion, absorption, intestinal function and microbial flora, as well as identifying pathogenic bacteria, parasites and yeasts. Poor digestive function and imbalanced gut flora may play a crucial role in the underlying cause of numerous health conditions creating symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, bloating, cramps, bad breath or fatigue.

Functional Liver Detoxification Profile
Many people believe that if a blood liver function test (LFT) comes back as normal that their liver is functioning properly and is healthy. A LFT only tests for damage that is done to the liver but does not indicate how well the liver is performing other important roles such as detoxification. Only a functional liver detoxification profile can determine this.

Symptoms typical of poor liver function include;

  • Muscle weakness or pain
  • Recurrent infection
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Digestive discomfort
  • Nausea
  • Bloating
  • Intolerance of fatty food
  • Chemical sensitivities
  • Hormonal imbalances
